Pay it forward

Your old College is a great place to start if you’re recruiting interns or grads. Just ask Richard Wetherell (2010). He’s a director at boutique investment banking firm Planum Partners, and he got in touch with the College last year when the firm was looking for internship applicants. ‘I did a winter internship with Credit Suisse when I was at uni. They advertised through Ormond and other Colleges and that’s what gave me the idea,’ he says.

Third-year Commerce student Alex Marshall (2021) won the internship at Planum Partners and quickly transitioned into a full-time role as a grad analyst. The firm – which specialises in renewable energy, circular economy, infrastructure and real estate – is expanding. In his first year out of university, Alex is working on some fascinating solar farm and battery transactions. He’s also been helping Richard out with recruitment for the next group of interns. The two newest recruits? Ormond students Olivia Tallent and Emmeline Duncan. “There’s a great pool of really smart and dedicated people at Ormond,” Alex says. If you’re interested in mentoring Ormond students, or if you’re seeking applicants for internship or graduate roles, get in touch with Sandy Cran.
