2024 Renate Kamener Oration with Thomas Mayo

Time: 3:30pm

Date: Sunday 22nd September 2024

Location: Wade Studio Room, Ormond College

Please join us for this year’s Renate Kamener Oration, our annual fundraiser for the Renate Kamener Indigenous Scholarship. Each year, the Scholarship supports an Indigenous student to achieve their tertiary education ambitions and call Ormond College home while studying at the University of Melbourne.

We are delighted to announce Thomas Mayo as our guest Orator for 2024. Thomas is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander man who lives on Larrakia land in Darwin. He is the elected Assistant National Secretary of the MUA, a best selling author, essayist, orator and a signatory to the Uluru Statement from the Heart. His advocacy and leadership in the push for the rights and recognition of Indigenous peoples spans over twenty years. Thomas is currently serving on the board of Australians for Indigenous Constitutional Recognition and the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Attending guests will be charged $30 for general admission or $15 for students.

Donations made beyond the ticket price are tax-deductible, with all proceeds from ticket sales and donations going towards the Renate Kamener Indigenous Scholarship.
