Your room
Every student at Ormond has their own private room – your space to rest, study and make your own.Rooms come fully furnished with a bed, desk, wardrobe, bookshelf, mirror, heating, and pinboard. You’ll share unisex bathrooms and laundry facilities, and there’s high-speed Wi-Fi across campus.Bring your own linen, lamp, computer, and personal touches to make it your space. In your first semester, you’ll be allocated a room. But after that, you can apply to move to where you feel most at home. Room allocations are based on your year level and time at College.
Dining Hall & meals
Meals are at the heart of College life. Our historic Dining Hall brings everyone together three times a day – for great food, conversation and community. The Dining Hall includes:- 21 freshly prepared meals a week
- Plenty of dietary options (vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and more)
- Fully cooked breakfasts
- Sunday brunch
- Formal Hall twice a week: wear your gown, enjoy table service, and hear from a guest speaker
- You can also invite a friend to join you in the Dining Hall for a small extra cost.
Common areas and café
Beyond your door, you’ll find spaces to connect, collaborate and take a break.The JCR Café is a daytime spot for coffee and snacks, and transforms into a relaxed student-run bar in the evenings. The café also hosts open mic nights, live music and Battle of the Bands.Other hang-outs include:- A lounge-style games room
- A full-sized billiards table (and an annual College championship)
- Beautiful gardens for relaxing, reading or kicking a ball
- The central Quad – perfect for meals in the sun or social nights

The Academic Centre is the heart of learning at Ormond. Open 24/7, it includes quiet study zones, group work areas, and a full library stocked with books that align with your uni courses.You can even request books for the library to buy.Librarians are on hand to help you find what you need – including access to the University of Melbourne’s research databases.

Health and fitness
Staying active is easy on campus, with:- On-site gym with free weights, machines, and cardio gear
- Rooftop tennis and basketball courts
- Membership to Melbourne University Sport (the big gym on campus) included in your fees
- Walkable access to Princes Park and University facilities including the Aquatic Centre and University Oval
Other facilities
- Bike and car parking: Limited onsite car parking is prioritised by need and seniority, while cyclists can take advantage of plenty of hoops and a secure bike shed – perfect for quick trips around Melbourne.
- Printing and copying: Fast, affordable colour and B&W printing and scanning services are available on campus whenever you need them.
- IT: Unlimited high‑speed internet across campus, with tech support from the student‑led IT team who know exactly what you need to get online fast.
- Laundry: Shared washing machines and dryers on every floor make late‑night laundry runs simple.
- Games and TV room: A big‑screen set‑up for movie marathons, live sport and gaming nights, complete with couches, consoles and an open fire for winter hangouts.
- Music and rehearsal spaces: The Lodge is alive with music: soundproof practice rooms, mixing desks and rehearsal spaces for bands and performers, plus several pianos (including a grand) for everything from late‑night jam sessions to concert‑level recitals.
- Chapel: A peaceful retreat from the buzz of College life – used for yoga, wellness sessions, quiet reflection and occasional services.
