Leading Tutors help you stay on top of coursework, prep for exams and build confidence. One-on-one consultations are also available.Guest speakersWe host visiting academics, professionals and creative thinkers from Australia and beyond. These sessions connect what you’re studying with the world outside uni – opening up fresh perspectives and conversations.Academic forumsStudent-led forums in science, poetry, philosophy and economics encourage informal, open discussions. They’re a place to debate, exchange ideas and expand your thinking.Academic intensivesA few times each year, you can join deep-dive sessions on specific topics – from Plato’s Republic to celestial mechanics. Intensives let you explore ideas outside your degree with leading minds in the College.
Heart – Grow Together
Ormond is more than a place to live, it’s where you’ll find your people and try new things. Looking after yourself is part of the experience too, with inclusive community spaces, wellbeing programs and student-led events that keep you balanced and connected.

You’ll find societies for sustainability, arts, music, publications, debating, service and more – all student-led, open to anyone, and evolving every year.SportOrmond fields at least one team in every intercollegiate sport: rowing, Aussie Rules, table tennis, rugby, soccer, cricket, volleyball, athletics and more. You’ll gain hands-on experience and mentoring along the way.Ormond Ski ClubOne of the College’s most loved traditions, it gives students and alumni a ski-in lodge at Mt Hotham where you can spend winter days on the slopes and evenings sharing meals around the fire. Live where it all happens
Private room. Shared meals. Massive vibe. Ormond gives you space to study, rest, and make some of your best memories. Whether it’s 10am in the Quad, 6pm at Formal Hall, or 2am in the JCR, this is where the ideas (and the friendships) take off.
Every undergraduate has a private room, furnished with a bed, wardrobe, desk, shelves, heating and internet. First‑year students usually live in architect‑designed modernist buildings, while senior students may move into heritage wings based on a seniority system. The heart of College life is the Dining Hall, where three freshly prepared meals are served daily and the community gathers twice a week for Formal Hall. Coffee and snacks are available at the JCR café – a hub for open‑mic nights and Battle of the Bands – and the Quad offers a sunny spot for study or spontaneous catch‑ups. Ormond’s picturesque grounds sit right beside the University of Melbourne and just minutes from the CBD and Lygon Street cafés, putting everything you need within easy reach.
