Making College accessible

We know that every student’s needs are different, and we’re committed to making Ormond as accessible as possible. If you require adjustments or specific support, we’ll work with you to find solutions so you can take part fully in College life.
Physical accessibility
As a heritage-listed campus, Ormond was not originally designed with accessibility in mind, but we have been working continuously to enhance our facilities and support services. Our goal is to provide tailored accommodation options and comprehensive support to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities. We offer a number of rooms with accessibility features to support students with mobility, vision, speech or hearing impairments. These rooms include adjustments like step-free access, modified bathrooms, visual alert systems and other features based on individual needs.
Wellbeing and psychological support
Our dedicated Student Wellbeing team provides ongoing emotional and psychological support throughout the year. We understand that navigating College and university life can come with extra pressure, and we’re here to support you with care, respect and privacy.
Targeted academic support
Our Learning team works closely with students who need learning adjustments or extra support. Whether it’s help with planning, managing workloads, or arranging alternative formats or accommodations, we’ll work with you to make sure you’re set up to succeed. Our dedicated Academic Advisors are experienced in navigating and supporting students with academic adjustment plans (AAPs) with the University of Melbourne, to support students with assessment and examination adjustments, and linking students with disability support at the university. We ensure that our practices align with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth.) and the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (Cth.).For more information or to discuss your individual needs, please reach out to our Student Life team at studentlife@ormond.unimelb.edu.au. They can assist in exploring options and ensuring the right accommodations and supports are in place.
