Costs and support
Choosing Ormond is an investment in your university experience. Our fees are set out below, and we’ve also outlined how deposits and payments work. Most importantly, you’ll find information about our Financial Assistance program further down the page.
Each year, we provide up to $1.5 million in scholarships and bursaries to ensure that students from all backgrounds can join our community. Support ranges from partial scholarships to full fee coverage. We strongly encourage all prospective students to check their eligibility. Ormond is committed to being open and accessible to all students with the talent and ambition to thrive here.
Undergraduate fees
Fees at Ormond College cover almost everything, including:
- Your own private, furnished room
- 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, all freshly prepared and served in our iconic Dining Hall
- Unlimited access to the Ormond gym
- Extra fitness membership with Melbourne University Sport (the big gym on campus)
- Access to Ormond’s libraries, study spaces, music spaces and other facilities
- College learning program, tutorials and one-on-one consults
- Ormond Next: career readiness support, internships and mentoring
- Sporting, cultural and some social activities
- Wellbeing support from trained counsellors and psychologists
- High speed wifi
- Lifelong membership of our alumni community
- Room condition bond
- Enrolment fee
- O-week fee

- The standard undergraduate fee covers 34 weeks of accommodation during semester only. Students are required to leave during semester breaks. However, students in their third year at Ormond are able to stay in residence over the mid-year break at no extra cost.
- All students are required to pay a deposit to secure their place at Ormond for 2026.
- Students applying to live at Ormond College while studying on exchange or study abroad at The University of Melbourne are required to pay their residential fees upfront and prior to arrival.

Graduate fees
Graduate fees cover the cost of living at Ormond College, which includes:
- Accommodation with your own private, furnished room

The 2026 Graduate Resident Fee Schedule outlines fees, charges and payment options for new graduate community members.All new graduate students are required to pay a $5,000 deposit to secure their place at Ormond for 2026.
Non-resident fees
Non-resident fees cover:
- Five-day residential program (for first-year undergraduates new to Ormond)
- Access to the College during the day, including a locker for belongings
- Use of the Academic Centre, study areas and social spaces
- Participation in tutorials, breadth programs and academic visitor seminars
- Dining in the Dining Hall five times a week (additional meals available at $17 each)
- Access to the Ormond gym and sporting facilities
- Fitness membership with Melbourne University Sport
- Participation in cultural, artistic, musical and sporting activities
- Attendance at selected College social events (e.g., Ormond Ball, trivia nights, Battle of the Bands)
- Additional meals beyond the five weekly meals included
- Accommodation

- Some social events and ticketed activities
The 2026 Non-Resident Fee Schedule outlines fees, charges and payment options for non-resident community members.All new non-resident students are required to pay a $750 deposit to secure their place at Ormond for 2026.
Payment of depositsDeposits will be credited to your first Fee Statement of 2026. Deposits are non-refundable, except in the event that you do not receive an offer from the University of Melbourne (VTAC applicants must have placed the University of Melbourne as their first choice on their application and provide a copy to the College); or if Ormond College withdraws this offer in accordance with the Agreement with the College. Please note that your place at Ormond for 2026 is not confirmed until all forms and agreements are signed and returned, and the deposit is paid.
Financial Assistance
We’re committed to making the Ormond experience possible for students of all backgrounds.
Each year, we offer up to $1.5 million in scholarships and bursaries. Eligible students can receive scholarships ranging from $7,500 to full fee for the duration of their university degree.If your family/household has an income of $300,000 or less before tax per year, you are eligible to apply for financial assistance to live at Ormond College. Financial assistance is offered solely on the basis of individual financial need. Applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis according to individual circumstances, taking into account both income and assets. Financial Assistance is not available to Study Abroad/Exchange or non-resident students.
Applying for financial assistance
If you are eligible to apply, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible before the deadline. You need to submit your application for residency at Ormond College before applying for Financial Assistance. For further information about submitting a residential application please see our How to apply webpage.If you are offered a place at Ormond, we will include your financial assistance offer at the same time, so please submit your applications as quickly as possible. Students make one application for financial assistance and the College then determines which scholarship, or combination of scholarships, you could be eligible for. You do not apply for a specific scholarship. Please complete the online application form via our secure portal during the application period. Please refer below for key dates.

Financial Assistance for First Nations Students
Full scholarships are available for First Nations students at Ormond College. Both Ormond College and the University of Melbourne offer generous support to help First Nations students thrive at university. Most students will be eligible for full fee coverage through the ABSTUDY Residential Costs Option (RCO). Additional financial support is available through the University’s Indigenous Accommodation Grant and Ormond College’s own Financial Assistance Program.

You can apply to Ormond for additional financial support to help cover general living expenses.ABSTUDY RCO requires a separate application to the ABSTUDY Living Allowance. To apply, contact the ABSTUDY line on 1800 132 317.University of Melbourne Indigenous Accommodation GrantIf you’re not eligible for ABSTUDY RCO, the University of Melbourne may support you through the Indigenous Accommodation Grant, which contributes $10,000 towards your College fees at Ormond (or another accommodation provider) and is paid directly to the College.
This grant requires proof that you’ve applied for ABSTUDY RCO and your application was unsuccessful.Ormond College Financial AssistanceIf you are not eligible for ABSTUDY RCO, you may still be able to access financial assistance from Ormond.We assess support based on financial need and your ability to contribute to accommodation costs. I applied for Ormond as a little bit of a pipe dream. Then I was told I was entitled to financial assistance. I was shocked at first, and then I started to think, ‘Hey, maybe I could actually do this’ and … now I’m in my third year at Ormond. It’s crazy.
